Poor Richard's Cafe Review

Over the weekend the boyfriend and I headed out to the heart of Plano to check out Poor Richard's Cafe for breakfast. It's nestled in somewhat of a rundown shopping center in the heart of Plano, off of K Ave and Park Blvd. When we first arrived, we were a little skeptical because of the area in which it was in, and how it appeared from the outside. Once we got inside, the huge line was a dead give away that the food was good, but the constant whispers from those waiting to be seated was a dead give away that the service there was not quite as good.

4 things from the get go that were... uh, strange
1- They don't take your name down like a normal restaurant and give you a wait time. You stand in a roped off line and wait until you're at the front to be seated. Although I wasn't crazy about this part, it didn't bother me that much at all. It was who was waiting to seat us that was the problem.
2-The woman, who was supposed to be somewhat of a hostess I assume, was an older woman, who was over tanned, and extremely rude. As we were waiting in line, she turned to me and said "Geeze, there's so many people here, don't any of y'all have food at home to eat?" WHAT KIND OF RESTAURANT WORKER SAYS THAT?
3-The wait to be seated wasn't long at all, but the wait to finally figure out who our waitress was! we had three different women asks us for our drink orders, but none of them were actually our waitress.
4-Lets talk about the awkward overall environment. Thomas and I both agreed that it felt strangely quiet in there and that so many people were staring. There was just some sort of weird something going on in there.
On the plus side, they had a huge menu, and LOTS of items that sounded really good. Thomas and I finally decided on what we wanted, and finally met out waitress.
Thomas ordered their Tenders and Waffles, with a side of scrambled eggs. (He's one of those people who put ketchup on their eggs-YUCK!)
I went with what has become my new favorite breakfast item, Eggs Benedict, with a side of home fries and fruit. Yum!
Both of our meals were incredible. I wish this could have made up for the crappy service, but unfortunately, it did not. When we went to pay, the man who I assumed to be the manager didn't ask us how or meal was, he didn't comment on anything actually, he just snatched the receipt out of my hand, and read aloud the total.

Overall, I'd give this place a 4. Like I said the food was awesome, and it was at a good price, but that service was just awful.

Tomorrow is Halloween! I hope everyone has lots of fun, I look forward to seeing all the cute trick-or-treaters as I pass out candy tomorrow night

We're always looking for new breakfast/ brunch places to go on the weekends, if any of y'all have a recommendation, I'd love to try it out!
